Receive SMS (MO)

Mobile Originated SMS service

We offer a range of MO text messaging services which offer different features, message rate (capacity) and have different costs. In every case the incoming Mobile Originated (MO) messages can be delivered back to you by HTTP, SMPP, SOAP, SMTP or Mobile Messenger Desktop Software. From each MO message you will receive:

  1. The date and time that we received the message
  2. The "Originator Address" of the message - often the number of the mobile that sent the message
  3. The phone number that the message was sent to
  4. The message

In general there is a setup charge for each Two-Way number, a monthly charge and a cost per message. In many cases you can set up the service yourself here on the website once you have logged into your account

Cost of MO messages

Each Network Operator decides what to charge their customers to send SMS messages. You are advised to check with your operator for their current pricing for MO messages.

Originator Address and Golden Numbers
Golden numbers £500.00 As an option you can select a Golden Number instead of having one that we allocate. A Golden Number might be 077 00 12 12 12 or 077 009 12345 for example. This number is rented not sold. Prices vary dependent on the Option number and the 'value' of the number. Please contact us with your requirements.
Originator Address £100.00 With an Originator Address the message will appear to come from 'Your_name'. By default all messages coming from our servers appear to come from 'csoft.co.uk' which is our Originator Address. Recipients cannot reply to messages sent with an Originator Address that is not a number. Originator Addresses must not infringe copyright or trademarks. See Originator Address

Note: If your account has insufficient credit and as a result the monthly service fee remains unpaid when the next payment is due then your Two-Way service will be automatically terminated. Should you wish to use the service again you will incur the Setup fee again. This process is unlikely to occur in practice as any payment into your account will go towards paying the outstanding fee.

Two different ways of using Two-Way SMS

1. Mobile Originated (MO) Two-Way SMS

In this case a mobile user sends a text message to a number that you have published and you then reply. Typically this can be used to let people register with you - for example to express interest in a club. If you were selling insurance services you might place adverts asking people to text their name, house number and postcode and you would then reply with a "thank you" and follow up with a Direct Mail marketing campaign.

If you want to "brand" your reply message (but don't want people to be able to reply directly to that message) then you can use an Originator Address containing, for example, your company name. Our default Originator Address is "csoft.co.uk" and no one can reply to because it is not a telephone number. However using an Originator Address does ensure that the source of the message is known so that people can contact you if they wish.

2. Mobile Terminated (MT) Two-Way SMS

In this case you send the first message from your office to the mobile phone and the recipient replies to your message. We will forward their reply back to you - for example by email. To use this type of service you need to have a list of mobile/cell phone numbers of people who are potentially interested in your offer. For example a Travel Agent might contact all their clients with a Special Offer of a cheap flight next weekend. The message might say "Cheap flight to Paris next weekend. Text back now to secure your chance to reserve a seat".
